Most people assume that all the fun begins the day of the retreat. Well, it does for the youth.
Actually……. The real fun begins in planning and making preparations for the retreat, at least for the adults! For instance, you get a lot of weird looks when you push a cart like this through Walmart:
Only one explanation for that cart and its ministry with youth!
Another note…. You also get a lot of weird looks buying 240 feet of 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe… but that’s for another story.
The first order of business on any retreat is settling into the cabin where you will spend the next week. Enjoy the group photos by cabin!
Then the fun begins! Of course as youth leaders the advantage you have is making the youth do weird things… because 9.99 out of 10 times they do it without question. Example: Sorting a party size bag of skittles by rainbow colors.
Or encouraging one to stand up in the canoe!
And then to your surprise the next canoe has both individuals standing in it!
And then there is always the classic fruit rollup relay with no hands!
So now that you’ve gotten a taste of the fun, see if you can spot what is wrong with this picture. See if you can spot a potential problem like a youth leader!
Did you see it? If you pointed out the kid in the bottom right hand corner you guessed correctly! A classic example of something additional being placed in the fire that was probably not supposed to be there!
Ahh well, you live and learn! (And no, nobody was harmed as a result of foreign substances being placed into the fire!)
We hope you enjoyed this fun breakdown of some of the fun we had at camp! We love sharing our photos and experiences with you!
