Little

Happy Monday!

Today, I simply thought I’d share a little something I read from one of my role models: Amy Carmichael.

I wanted to reflect on Romans 8:37, and on Amy’s depiction of this verse in particular.

More than conquerors.

Or, as my NLT reads: “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”

She describes how, at times, when we read those words, we feel as though we will never get to that place. However, we have to keep in mind that those who DID have the overwhelming victory (such as those who wrote the very book of Romans) didn’t gain it all at once.

This is how they won:

– Little acts of faith

– Little denials of self

– Little inward victories

– Faithfulness in very little things

It wasn’t JUST the LARGE leaps of faith they took, but the small.

“No one sees these little hidden steps,” She says, “They only see accomplishment; but even so, those small steps were taken.”

Key word: LITTLE

At times when I am going through a changing or developing phase in my life, I can grow impatient, as want to see the results RIGHT AWAY in the process that God is taking me through.

Yes, there are times in our lives where we have to take HUGE steps of faith, but I’ve noticed, especially when it comes to developing my character in Christ; the LITTLE steps are are the things that end up making a BIG difference.

It seems simple enough, to take the little steps, to trust God in the small things. But in truth, it’s the little things that can be harder to trust him in, because it’s normally the little things that we try to handle on our own!

Just some thoughts. 🙂

Have a wonderful rest of the week, everyone!

-Rachel

  1. Thank you, Rachel!  Good reminder and so true that it is easy to get discouraged when we see how far it seems we have to go.  One little step after another in the right direction, doing the right thing. Love you!Mom
